"Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship...?" The first question of our baptismal covenant reminds us that we are called to ongoing transformation by sharing in the fellowship of the church and recounting the savings deeds of God through history. Through a faithful—not necessarily literal—reading of Holy Scripture, informed by a reasonable mind, and seen through the lens of an ongoing faith tradition, Christians can come to a fuller understanding of the mind of Christ, and thus be shaped more by the Spirit of God than by any other ongoing influence. Faith formation is life-long. It doesn't end at baptism—or confirmation—it continues to grow in us! Our daily lives are crowded with other influences that make demands on our time and energy. By renewing our minds in the mind of Christ we can make decisions that are more in keeping with our faith values.
