Moncler Grenoble's Olympic Revival: A Milan Exhibition Celebrating Winter Sports Heritage
Moncler Grenoble, the luxury fashion brand renowned for its winter sports heritage, is making a grand return to the Olympics after a nearly 60-year absence. This comeback is marked by a series of exciting activations, showcasing the brand's deep-rooted connection to winter sports and performance.
As the official sponsor of Brazil's Olympic Committee and technical sponsor of the Brazilian Snow Sports Federation, Moncler Grenoble is not only designing the uniforms for the Brazilian team but also creating an immersive exhibition in Milan, Italy. The exhibition, titled 'The Beyond Performance', is a celebration of the brand's rich history and its evolution in the world of winter sports.
The exhibition, which runs until February 28th, coincides with the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. It is housed in a temporary, mirrored-walled space within the courtyard of the Portrait Milano luxury shopping and hospitality venue. Visitors are treated to a journey through Moncler Grenoble's history, with each room dedicated to a specific theme and color, reflecting the brand's iconic palette.
The first room transports visitors to Monestier-de-Clermont, an alpine village near Grenoble, France, where Moncler was founded. Here, a tree-lined installation mimics a forest trail, setting the tone for the exhibition. The foyer leads to three distinct trails, each named after Moncler's signature colors: blue, white, and red.
The blue trail showcases Moncler's technical expertise, from its early days supplying gear to alpine workers to its role in mountaineering expeditions. Archival pieces, including sleeping bags, anoraks, and iconic puffer jackets, are displayed alongside video and soundscapes, offering a multi-sensory experience. The room pays homage to Moncler's collaboration with French explorer Lionel Terray and the legendary Karakorum jacket designed for the K2 ascent in 1954.
In the white room, Moncler Grenoble's performance-driven division is on full display. Visitors can explore the original ski suits designed for the French team at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble and the more recent outfits created for Team Brazil in 2026. This room also features fashion-forward pieces, such as an '80s design by Chantal Thomass and a 1990 puffer jacket signed by Italian ski legend Alberto Tomba, embodying the 'paninaro' style.
The red trail, adorned with mirrored walls, showcases Moncler Grenoble's contemporary creations, drawn from its runway shows since 2010. This section highlights the brand's ongoing commitment to innovation and performance, building upon its rich history.
Moncler Grenoble's Olympic journey began in 1968 when the brand supplied the French national ski team. The first Grenoble collection was unveiled in New York during Fashion Week in 2010. Since then, the brand has continued to evolve, introducing Moncler Genius and Moncler Collection, expanding its presence in the fashion world while maintaining its high-performance roots.
The brand's recent runway events in Aspen and Courchevel, attended by celebrities like Kevin Costner and Tessa Thompson, have further solidified Moncler Grenoble's status as a leading player in the luxury fashion industry, blending style and performance seamlessly.
